KALACHAKRA 2016


DHARAMSHALA: Sikong Dr. Lobsang Sangay today announced that His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give the 34th Kalachakra initiations at Bodh Gaya in India from 14 -25 January 2016.
“The 14th Kashag is immensely blessed that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has kindly consented to our request to give the Kalachakra initiation at Bodh Gaya,” Sikyong said at a prayer service held today.
The Department of Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration will be mainly responsible for the Kalachakra teachings along with other co-sponsors.
Since 1954, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has given 33 Kalachakra Initiations, including four times at Bodh Gaya in 1974, 1985, 2003 and 2012. The Kalachakra teachings in 2012 drew over 200,000 devotees from across the world, which include about 8,000-10,000 Tibetans from Tibet.
